In 2017 the Royal Mint issued this wonderful Piedfort Silver Proof Five Pound coin, to commemorate the Sapphire Jubilee of Her Majesty the Queen.
The young Princess Elizabeth was on tour with her husband Prince Philip, in 1952 when a call from London was received informing the young princess that her father King George VI had died. The young princess Elizabeth became queen.
Her Majesty’s coronation, was held at Westminster Abbey in 1953. This coin celebrates her long and glorious reign.
This wonderful coin depicts the St Edward’s Crown which was used in the coronation of Her Majesty, and her famous words where she dedicated her whole life to the service of her country.
65 years later, it’s a promise that still stands, God Bless her!
