This year celebrates the 400th Anniversary of the Voyage of the Mayflower, which set sail from London in Mid-July 1620.
The pilgrims originally settled in the Netherlands in 1608 but decided to go to the ‘New World’, because of their religious beliefs. The journey took around 10 weeks arriving at Cape Cod on the 9th of November, originally they planned to go to Virginia where they had permission to land, however, the sea was too rough to continue their voyage.
