In 1890, Beatrix Potter  bought a rabbit, Benjamin Bouncer followed by Peter Rabbit in 1893.

Whose first tale was told in an illustrated letter to Noel Moore, later that same year.

In 1901, Beatrix expanded her story about Peter Rabbit into a book.

But unable to find a buyer she published it herself, for her family and friends.

However in 1902, on the advice of an illustrator L.Leslie Brooke.

Frederick Warne  & Co published the very first commercial

edition of ‘The Tale of Peter Rabbit’.

This lovely £5  Silver  Proof coin

 comes complete with a box and  numbered Certificate of Authenticity

together with a  cardboard outer.
