On the 6 June 1944, a huge invasion force reached northern France. The allies comprised of 6,939 ships and landing craft, 11,590 aircraft and 156,115 ground and airborne troops, the Allied forces stormed 5 beaches, code-named Utah, Omaha, Gold, Juno and Sword.
