Description
Following the death of of her father King George VI, the young Princess Elizabeth aged 25, became Queen on the 6th February 1952. Her Majesty’s coronation took place 16 months later on the 2nd June 1953. This year is the 65th Anniversary of the coronation.
Since the start of her reign, Queen Elizabeth has celebrated many jubilee’s, Silver in 1977 , Golden in 2002, Diamond in 2012 and the Sapphire Jubilee 2017.
She is the United Kingdom’s longest reigning monarch, surpassing her great- grandmother’s – Queen Victoria reign.
