On the 2 May 2015 , the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, welcomed their second born child in to the world,

Princess Charlotte,who  is fourth in line to the throne,

after her  Grand father the Prince of Wales and her father the Duke of Cambridge, and her brother Prince George

To celebrate the birth of the  Princess, the Royal Mint, struck this Gold Brilliant Uncirculated Sovereign

 on the day of Charlotte’s birth,  2 May 2015 .

 The coin depicts, the well known St George slaying the Dragon

Comes complete with numbered Certificate of Authenticity and Box

In 1282, the coins struck by the Royal Mint were independently

and  rigorously checked to determine their quality and   fineness,

it  is known as the Trial of the Pyx and today over 700 years later, it still takes place.

Every year an independent jury, sworn in by the Queen’s Remembrancer,

ascertains whether the coins made by the Royal Mint are of the correct weight, diameter and composition  as required by law.
