2005 GOLD BRITANNIA
£25 TWENTY FIVE POUNDS
PROOF COIN
Britannia first appeared on a Roman coin in 117-138 AD. She first appeared on English coinage during Charles II reign in 1672. She was the natural choice for the new gold coins of 1987, that also took her name.
The 2005 image of Britannia was a new design and is the fifth design issued since 1987. Seated upon a craggy rock with her hair and robes blowing in the wind, in her right hand Britannia holds a shield emphasising her protection of the British Isles.
This coin contains a quarter troy ounce of fine gold and comes complete with a numbered certificate, and box.
