Description

Issued by the Royal Mint  on behalf of  Guernsey to celebrate the History of the Royal Navy, this Silver Proof Five pound coin depicts the image of Henry VIII.

 He became king in 1509, and inherited five royal warships from his father. Henry realised that his kingdom was open to sea-borne attacks, so he embarked on a programme of ship building. Which was to become his ‘Navy Royal’, his most favourite ship was the ‘Mary Rose’ which was named after his sister.

This coin comes complete with information card.
