In 2000 The Royal Australian Mint issued this Silver Proof coin, to celebrate the bi-centenary
of a proclamation issued by the Governor of New South Wales to
standardise the value of the colony’s copper, silver and gold coins.
These coins became to be known as the Proclamation Coins of Australia.
One of the coins in use was the 1797 British Penny, which featured Britannia.
This coin was the first to be minted using Matthew Boulton steam powered press.
Earning the nickname of ‘Cartwheel’ due to it’s large size.
This silver proof coin comes complete with a numbered Certificate of Authenticity, box and cardboard outer.
